South Korea snow breaks 100 year record (Video, Photo)

Now this is a country that is serious about its snow response. After a storm dropped 39 inches of snow this weekend on South Korea – its biggest snowfall since records began in 1911 – the government mobilized 12,000 soldiers who flew in helicopters all over the country, slid down ropes and then got busy with snow shovels. Great use of technologies both new and old. Follow the jump to see a picture taken yesterday by NASA’s Aqua satellite of the blanketing of the Korean Peninsula.
