With an area of high pressure off the coast, afternoon high temperatures will increase for the start of the new week. Highs will generally be in the middle to upper 80s with a chance for showers and thunderstorms. Depending on the sun to cloud ratio, severe thunderstorms may pop during the late afternoon and early evening hours Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Toward the middle of the week, a cold front will slow just to the north and west of the mid-Atlantic keeping unsettled weather in the forecast. Cooler air will arrive by Friday, but a chance for showers will linger into the upcoming Memorial Day weekend. For a look at the extended out look, click here.
