Unsettled weather for D.C.; heat, humidity and thunderstorms return

A few showers and thunderstorms will dot ABC7 Live Super Doppler during the overnight hours. Heat and humidity will build for the start of the week bringing a chance for showers and severe thunderstorms. Highs will be in the middle to upper 80s with head index readings a few degrees warmer.

Overnight: Mostly Cloudy, Isolated Showers and Thunderstorms

Lows: 60s | Wind: S 5-10

Monday: Partly to Mostly Cloudy, PM Showers and Thunderstorms

Highs: 83°-88° | Wind: S 10-15

Tuesday: Partly Cloudy, PM Showers and Storms

Highs: 84°-89° | Wind: S 10-15

With an area of high pressure off the coast, afternoon high temperatures will increase for the start of the new week. Highs will generally be in the middle to upper 80s with a chance for showers and thunderstorms. Depending on the sun to cloud ratio, severe thunderstorms may pop during the late afternoon and early evening hours Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Toward the middle of the week, a cold front will slow just to the north and west of the mid-Atlantic keeping unsettled weather in the forecast.
