The heat and humidity return to D.C. this week
This Afternoon: Mostly Sunny, Warm
Highs: Mid 80s | Wind: NE 5-10 m.p.h.
Overnight: Mostly Clear
Lows: 60s | Wind: Light Southerly
Tuesday: Mostly Sunny, Hot
Highs: Around 90 | Wind: S 4-8 m.p.h.
High pressure has gained control of the region and sunny skies will be expected through the first part of the work week. Highs today should reach the mid 80s as northeasterly winds will help keep the area warm but not terribly hot. Tonight there will be a change in the wind direction to southerly and lows will fall into the 60s under mostly clear skies.
The heat will increase tomorrow with highs around the 90 degree mark under mostly sunny skies. There is a slight chance for a few storms, but they should only be in the mountains. Wednesday and Thursday are expected to be hot and humid with highs into the upper 90s.
The next chance for showers and thunderstorms appears to be Thursday night through the weekend as a frontal boundary sinks into the area. Temperatures should be near 90 degrees on Friday and back into the 80s for the weekend.
