An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect from noon until 8 p.m. Thursday as temperatures around the 100 degree mark in combination with dew points in the mid to upper 70s will make it feel like it is around 110 degrees. This is a very dangerous heat which has already taken numerous lives across the Midwest and Plains states, so please stay inside and try to keep as cool as possible over the next couple of days.
Friday appears like it will be the hottest day of the week with highs in the lower 100s under hazy skies. It should feel like it is over 110 degrees on Friday with the heat index. Saturday will see more of the same, with highs nearing the 100 degree mark one more time. There is a slight chance for a few storms Friday and Saturday, but they will be short lived and will only briefly cool the temperatures in localized areas. A better chance for storms exists on Sunday and Monday as a frontal system approaches from the north and west. Highs on Sunday should reach the mid to upper 90s and should reach the low 90s on Monday.
