Extreme temperatures expected today through the weekend

Highs are expected to top out near the 100 degree mark over the next few days. An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect until 8pm.

Highs: Around 100 | Heat Index: Up to 115°

Overnight: Warm and Muggy

Lows: Upper 70s | Wind: SW 4-8 m.p.h.

Friday: Hazy, HOT & Humid

Highs: Low 100s | Heat Index: Up to 118°

An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for the entire D.C. area today with dangerous heat expected today through Saturday. Highs should reach around the 100 degree mark under mostly sunny skies today. The combination of high temperatures and dew points will lead to heat index values up to 115 degrees. Tonight will be warm and muggy with lows in the 70s.

Friday appears to be the hottest day of the week, with highs in the lower 100s under mostly sunny skies. There is a chance for a stray storm tomorrow evening and tomorrow night. The Excessive Heat Warning continues through the day on Friday with heat index values up to 118 degrees.

Saturday should hot once more with highs nearing the 100 degree mark. The pattern will finally break a bit on Sunday with highs back in the low to mid 90s. There is also a chance for showers and thunderstorms through the day on Sunday. Highs Monday should fall back near seasonal values around the 90 degree mark.
