Temperatures are expected to soar back into the mid 90s today, but even higher heat is on the way.

This Afternoon: Hot, Hazy & Humid; Stray PM Storm

Highs: Mid 90s | Wind: SE 5 m.p.h.

Overnight: Mostly Clear, Muggy

Lows: 70s | Wind: S 5 m.p.h.

Thursday: Hazy, Hot and Humid

Highs: Near 100 | Heat Index: 105°+

The heat and humidity are beginning to take over the forecast with highs today again in the mid 90s under partly cloudy skies. There is a chance for a few stray storms this afternoon with the highest liklihood south of D.C. Tonight will be in the 70s under mostly clear skies. The hazy, hot and humid weather will continue through the day on Thursday, and highs should top out near the 100 degree mark under mostly sunny skies. There is currently an Excessive Heat Watch through the day on Thursday when heat indicies could reach up to 111 degrees.

Friday appears like it will be the hottest day of the week, with highs above the 100 degree mark, probably reaching around 102 or 103 by the afternoon. Heat indicies will again be extremely high in the 110+ range. Saturday will continue the streak of dangerous heat with highs again around the 100 degree mark. Sunday, highs should only make it into the mid and upper 90s. There appears to be a slight chance for storms on Sunday, but a better chance on Monday as a much needed cold front approaches the region from the northwest. The heat should break by Tuesday.
