Record heat possible today but improvements lie ahead
This Afternoon: Mostly Sunny, Hot
Highs: Upper 90s | Wind: WNW 5-10 m.p.h.
Overnight: Mainly Clear, Warm
Lows: 70s | Wind: NW 4-8 m.p.h.
Wednesday: Partly Cloudy, PM Storm Possible
Highs: Around 90 | Wind: NW 4-8 m.p.h.
Today will be hot and humid with highs in the mid to upper 90s. A few area records will be challenged with the record at Reagan National at 99 degrees, 97 at BWI Thurgood Marshall and 97 at Dulles Airport. There is a slight chance for a few storms with the best possibility south of D.C. Tonight will be warm and muggy with lows in the 70s.
Wednesday should be cooler, with highs only around the 90 degree mark. A few afternoon storms will be possible with the passage of a weak disturbance in the afternoon and evening. Thursday and Friday look to be cooler and much more comfortable with highs in the 80s and dew points back in the 50s. One model does push in a bit of heat and humidity into the region on Friday as well as the chance for showers and storms, but as of now we think it will stay south of town. We will continue to keep you posted through the rest of the week as better guidance comes in.
