Heavy showers and thunderstorms have moved into southern Virginia this afternoon, leaving our area sunny and dry in the storms wake. Temperatures will fall through the 80s this evening and into the 70s tonight. Thursday, it appears storms will be likely with highs in the lower 90s. A few storms may be strong to severe with damaging winds and large hail possible.

Friday has a couple question marks to it, as an area of tropical moisture moves up the east coast and gets steered out to see as it runs into a frontal zone. We think this will make the region mostly cloudy and bring a good chance for rain. Rainfall could be heavy at times with all of the available tropical moisture. High temperatures are expected to be in the mid to upper 80s.

The weekend ahead will feature clearing skies and warmer temperatures back around the 90 degree mark. A few showers may linger into Saturday morning, but otherwise expect mostly sunny skies and dry conditions through the weekend.
