A cold front the next weather maker for us with the risk of some afternoon thunderstorms Thursday afternoon. Irene a major hurricane in the Bahamas. The more positive news is that everything I am looking at indicates that the core and eyewall of this dangerous hurricane will stay well to the east of DC and the Bay. Some of the late simulations do show that Irene will maintain a very strong pressure pattern even in the west side which may mean strong northeast winds on the Bay Saturday afternoon even if the eyewall will 100 miles east. Significantbeach erosion along the MD, DE beaches is likely even though the center is off shore.. By Sunday afternoon Irelen will be past but be an increasing threat to Long Island and the coast of New England.
