One more day of fun in the sun, Irene is on the move and her track may impact the weekend forecast.
This Afternoon: Mostly Sunny, More Clouds Late PM
Highs: near 85° | Wind: South 5-15
Overnight: Partly Cloudy, Breezy
Lows: 60s | Wind: South 10-15+
Thursday: Increasing Clouds, Thunderstorms Possible
Highs: near 90° | Wind: South 10-20
High pressure will move away from the mid-Atlantic today. With winds out of the south, it will feel more like summer, with higher temperatures and a bit more humidity. Breezy conditions are expected overnight with lows in the 60s. Clouds will continue to thicken ahead of a cold front with a chance for showers and thunderstorms on Thursday. Highs will be near 90 degrees before the precipitation arrives.
Irene is still set to become a very powerful hurricane, but guidance is taking her further to the east, a good thing for the D.C. metropolitan area. At this point, it does not look like an ideal beach weekend, but it does appear to be improving the further west.
