A potent area of low pressure will move through the region today and tonight bringing with it showers and a chance for some strong thunderstorms. Though the region is mostly cloudy now, if we get a few breaks in the overcast this afternoon, the chance for severe weather will increase for the afternoon and evening hours. Highs today should reach the mid to upper 80s. (Side note: If it doesn't reach 90° today, this will be the first day with highs in the 80s since July 17)
Tonight, showers will continue to be possible under otherwise mostly cloudy skies. Lows will fall in the lower 70s. Thursday morning, expect some added clouds and maybe a passing shower or two before clearing occurs in the afternoon. Highs should reach the upper 80s to near 90 degrees.
Friday should be mostly sunny as high pressure enters the region once again. Highs should top out near the 90 degree mark. The weekend ahead will feature another chance for storms Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning as the next frontal system moves into the area.
