D.C. Forecast: Warm start to week, much cooler for the weekend

Slightly brighter, slightly warmer and a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms. Big changes are on the way for the upcoming weekend.

This Afternoon: Partly to Mostly Cloudy, Isolated Showers

Highs: near 80 | Wind: South 3-8 mph

Tonight: Mostly Cloudy, Showers Likely

Lows: 60s | Wind: Southeast 5-10 mph

Tuesday: Showers, Scattered Thunderstorms

Highs: near 80° | Wind: Southeast 5-10 mph

Abundant moisture will continue to ride the Atlantic coast as Bermuda high pressure remains locked in place. Shower and thunderstorm potential will be limited to about 30 percent this afternoon with highs near 80 degrees. Clouds will thicken overnight and into Tuesday bringing a better chance for widespread showers and thunderstorms. A cold front will push across the region late Wednesday bringing an initial push of less humid air.

A stronger cold front later this week will drop high temperatures into the 60s by Saturday and Sunday.
