After a hot and humid summer across the mid-Atlantic, the weekend forecast delivers a taste of cool air and scattered showers. Overnight lows will fall into the 40s with a small area of 30s in the mountains well west of the District.

Unsettled weather will stick around Sunday and Monday with an area of low pressure finally scooting away from the area late Monday. Tuesday will be the day of transition as the wind shifts directions, skies clear and temperatures moderate. Highs by Wednesday and Thursday will be well into the 70s with abundant sunshine.
