Sunshine will give way to increasing cloudiness as we progress through this Friday with chilly highs in the low to mid 50s this afternoon. An area of low will take shape later tonight off the Carolina coast and then pull up the coastline through the day Saturday.

Rain could develop in places far south of town before sunset today with rain developing region wide overnight.

In the higher elevations and even through the Shenandoah Valley rain will mix with and perhaps change over to all snow overnight into Saturday.

The immediate D.C. Metro will see a cold rain however by the afternoon Saturday enough cold air could be wrapped into this storm that we could mix in some wet snow as well. Sunshine returns Sunday however temperatures will remain well below average in the upper 40s. Skies will be partly sunny for Halloween but still chilly in the low 50s.
