Chilly day ahead but moderation for the weekend

Sunny skies and chilly temperatures will be headlines today in an overall quiet weather pattern on the east coast.

This Afternoon: Sunny Skies, Cool

Highs: Mid 40s | Wind: NW 4-8 m.p.h.

Overnight: Clear & Cold

Lows: 20s to Low 30s | Wind: S 5 m.p.h.

Saturday: Mostly Sunny, Cool

Highs: Low 50s | Wind: S 5-10 m.p.h.

High pressure will dominate the region today making for full sunshine. High temperatures will be cooler than normal, only reaching the mid 40s. Tonight, lows will fall back into the 20s in the suburbs to lower 30s inside the Beltway under mainly clear skies.

The weekend ahead will experience some moderation in temperatures, with highs back in the lower 50s tomorrow under sunny skies. Sunday, clouds will begin to roll back into the D.C. area ahead of the next frontal system. Expect partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies with milder temperatures around 60 degrees. A few showers may be possible Sunday night through Monday morning. A better chance for rain exists through the middle of next week.
