It is remarkably mild this Saturday as December refuses to chill out - even on its last day! A few showers fell around daybreak, but the passage of a cold front did little to drop our temperatures. Look for partly sunny skies throughout the day with highs in the mid to upper 50s and winds from the west at 10 to 15 mph.
For New Year's Eve revelers, temperatures will drop only to the mid to upper 30s, and New Year's Day will continue to defy the calendar with highs again in the upper 50s. But don't expect winter to stay away much longer than that.
For auld lang syne will be quickly followed by a blustery blast of cold air on Tuesday and Wednesday; in many local areas, the "highs" both days will be below the freezing point! With daytime highs in the low 30s and nighttime lows in the upper teens and lower 20s, the coldest air since last year will remove any doubt about what season is really upon us.
Snow will likely be falling well to the west in the Alleghenies, but for us, only a few flurries are likely. So Happy Balmy New Year, but prepare to bundle up soon!
