The high pressure system responsible for the sunny and pleasant weather is leaving town. As it slides eastward tonight, there will be a slow but steady increase in cloudiness from the west. This will keep overnight readings a little warmer than last night. With the high moving out and a cold front approaching from the west, we expect a mainly cloudy and mild day tomorrow.
On Thursday, just ahead of the front, southwesterly winds will push temperatures into the upper 50s. By the afternoon hours, scattered showers will develop as the front gets closer. Mostly cloudy and cooler weather will arrive on Friday. On Friday night, a small weather disturbance may pass close enough to the mid-Atlantic to create a little precipitation but at this time it appears it will miss the Washington area. Over the weekend, high pressure will build back overhead producing partly to mostly sunny skies and seasonably chilly temperatures.
