A warm front will pass to the northwest of the region today and a few light showers have been observed along the boundary over the Potomac Highlands. Any shower activity will come to an end later this afternoon. Tonight, mostly cloudy skies can continue to be expected with lows in the 30s in the suburbs to near 40 degrees inside the Beltway.
Thursday, a cold front will begin to move in from the west, expect mostly cloudy skies and mild temperatures in the upper 50s ahead of the front. Showers will be possible by the late afternoon and evening hours as the front crosses into the region.
A weak wave of energy will ride along the remaining boundary on Friday and move just to the south of the D.C. area Friday night into Saturday morning. There may be a few sprinkles or even flurries as this system passes by but that is about it. It appears the majority of the precipitation will be south of Richmond, VA. The weekend ahead will be partly cloudy and cool with highs in the 40s.
