Clouds will increase during the overnight hours as a frontal system moves closer toward the mid-Atlantic. Overnight lows will be in the 30s with westerly winds. Skies will remain mostly cloudy on Tuesday with a chance for a few sprinkles and afternoon highs near 50 degrees.
Wednesday will bring a shot of even milder air to the area with highs approaching the upper 50s and lower 60s. A few rumbles of thunder will be possible along with the potential for up to one-half inch of rain. Unsettled weather is expected Friday and into early Christmas Eve, but with temperatures well above freezing, this year will be a green Christmas.

SEASONAL NOTE: Astronomical Winter arrives with the Winter Solstice at 12:30AM on Thursday. Our darkest period of the year occurs this week as the 21st and 22nd of December will be the two days this year with the least amount of daylight hours and minutes. There will only be 9 hours and 26 minutes of daylight on the 21st and 22nd (out of our 24 hour day), we will start to gain daylight hours and minutes on the 23rd.
