A series of weather disturbances will keep precipitation in the forecast today, Thursday night and early Friday morning, and again for the first part of Christmas Day (Sunday). Temperatures in the region will remain well above average through Friday and at seasonal averages through Saturday and Sunday so any precipitation falling in the metro area will be in the form of rain.
We have seen daytime high temperatures reach or exceed the seasonal daily high temperature average for 14 out of 20 days (70% of days) this month and have had 5 days this December at 60° or higher. We have a good chance of adding to that total today and Thursday.
Astronomical winter begins early Thursday morning (12:30 a.m.).
