Appearances and temperatures to the contrary, it is Christmas Eve!  Expect mostly sunny skies today with highs in the low to mid 40 and even milder tomorrow.

This Afternoon:  Mostly Sunny, Cool & Breezy

Highs: 42-47 | Wind: NW 10-15+ mph

Tonight: Mostly Clear, Chilly

Lows: 28-35 | Wind: NE 5 mph

Sunday: Sunny & Milder

Highs: 50-55 | Wind: SW 5-10 mph

It continues to be Winter Lite this Christmas weekend as our mild-mannered December shows no signs of chilling out.  After yet another week of temperatures in the 50s and 60s, the holiday will be just a bit cooler with highs today in the mid 40s and the lower 50s on Sunday.  The overcast skies and scattered sprinkles ealier today have yielded to mostly sunny skies, but the winds have been gusting over 20 mph.  High pressure will keep us clear and chilly in the overnight hours with lows dropping to the upper 20s in the suburbs and the low to mid 30s downtown.  Christmas Day will be bright - and not white - as mostly sunny skies and milder temperateres in the 50s will make for a most unusual, but not unappreciated, gift.  Enjoy your holiday weekend!

NOTE: With no snow on the ground to reflect sunlight  - the bare ground absorbs more of the incoming heat and thus moderates the temperature - it is no surprise that the month has been almost 5 degrees above the seasonal norm.  Add in southwesterly winds and a northerly jet stream, and you get our relatively balmy December !
