January is not known for its sizzle, but with three 60 degree days already, the month has been far toastier than any of us could expect. Under mostly sunny skies, Saturday kept getting better by the hour. When the mercury hit 68 degrees around 3 PM, spring was undeniably in the air. The passage of a cold front late in the day has cooled the area this morning, but not excessively so. Temperatures are in the 40s with an expected afternoon high in the low 50s. Even with more clouds than yesterday, this Sunday will still be a reasonably comfortable winter's day.
An approaching low will thicken clouds in the overnight hours and Monday should be mostly cloudy with highs in the mid to upper 40s. Afternoon showers are possible, especially to the south of the metro area. The subsequent days should be increasingly milder - with another 60 degree day possible on Thursday - with rain likely on Wednesday. Week's end should be chillier with daytime highs in the low 40s, but snow continues to be elusive!
NOTE: Last January started out with two days in the upper 50s, only to turn much colder for the remainder of the month with highs only in the 30s and 40s. What a contrast to this year as January is almost 5 degrees above normal! Enjoy your Sunday.
