Special information for western Maryland and West Virginia: Winter Storm Warning from 1AM Monday until Tuesday afternoon for the potential for over 12" of snow along with gusts up to 50 miles per hour. A Wind Advisory is also in effect overnight, mainly for elevations above 1800 feet. Oakland, Frostburg and Keyser are included under the warning and advisory.
A strong cold front continues to move toward the east bringing along a shot of the coldest air of the season. Overnight lows will be in the 30s with increasing winds out of the west.
Monday will bring a mix of sun and clouds with near average highs for this time of year. 40s will be the general rule, but wind chills will make it feel about eight to ten degrees colder. Tuesday will be by far the coldest day since last winter. Highs will struggle to make it to near freezing with wind chill factors in the single digits to upper teens. High pressure builds Wednesday and Thursday allowing for a modest warming trend.
