Want a good idea of what the weather will bring this week? Here are my latest thoughts.
After a very chilly weekend which was the coldest 3-day stretch so far this winter, what will the work week bring? Many of you will be returning to wet weather tomorrow morning which I'm sure will start you off to a good mood! Up to an inch of rain may be possible, though I think rain totals will generally be around a half of an inch or less. Here is a video highlighting today and the next few days in and around D.C.
Questions in the forecast: There are a few systems that bear watching. The first is on Thursday and the second on Saturday. The Thursday system is a weak clipper that could bring some light snow to the region around lunch time. If this comes at the wrong time and drops a little more snow than expected it could affect the commute home. Saturday's system appears to bring another chance for snow though there isn't much cold air to deal with. There really isn't much support from an upper-level jet, no big trough and anything that would occur appears like it would be very light.
Thoughts on the forecast: I think the region will get some measureable rain tomorrow and it could slow the morning commute. I wouldn't be surprised to see some sunshine for the evening commute. As of now, I think flurries are the best bet for Thursday though we will watch that to see exactly how strong that clipper looks in the next few model runs. Do I trust the forecast of snow for Saturday? No. Which is why there are currently raindrops on my 7-day forecast. This is one of those wait and see scenarios. Don't worry, we'll be watching all of this and let you know our latest thoughts.
