Sunshine today and rain tomorrow

Hydrometeorological Prediction Center's rainfall prediction through 7am Wed.

Today: Sunshine this morning, clouds this afternoon.

Highs: Lower 40s   Winds: South 5-10 mph

Tonight: Cloudy with rain developing, brief sleet well N& W

Lows: 30s  Winds: South 5-10 mph

Tomorrow: Cloudy and mild with rain.

Highs: Upper 50s  Winds: S/SW 10-15 mph

After a frigid start to this Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, temperatures will eventually climb into the lower 40s. Cloudiness will increase this afternoon and thicken tonight, as a developing storm system moves through the Ohio Valley. At the onset later tonight, the precipitation could begin as sleet in areas west of a line from Dulles to Frederick. Southerly winds will draw in warmer temperatures so rain will be the precipitation type for most areas. In fact, temperatures will climb into the 50s tomorrow as the rain ends in the afternoon.

Gusty winds and colder temperatures will return for Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday, skies will be partly cloudy and high temperatures will reach close to the 40 degree mark. Another warming trend will begin this wekend.
