Winter Weather Advisory First Flakes Falling

- (This is a stock photo of snow in D.C.)
Overnight: Cloudy, Cold Snow briefly Freezing Rain After 2AM
Lows: 27-32 | Precipitation: 90% chance Freezing Rain by Morning
Saturday: Freezing Rain Slowly changing to Rain ending PM
Highs: 32-36 | Precipitation: 1/4" ice Possible N&W DC
Sunday: Cloudy Cold Chance Drizzle/Freezing Drizzle
Highs: 34-38 | Precipitation: 30% Chance
Very cold dry air over us.
The Winter Weather Advisory continues into Saturday. The latest trends of the many simulations we're looking at continue to show this storm much more an ice event than a snow event. This trend continues as of 10:30
Some of the first snowflakes are falling but It will take time for the air to get saturated and precipitation to reach the ground.
Brief snow or sleet will turn to freezing rain and continue well into Saturday morning especially spots like upper Montgomery County and western Fairfax, Prince William and Fauquier County. My latest thinking is that we will see the freezing rain end in DC as some very cold rain with temperatures slightly above freezing and then end Saturday afternoon. Sunday cloudy and damp but any precipitation will be light and drizzle.
