Spring weather today...winter returns on Sunday
TODAY: Becoming sunny, breezy and mild.
Highs: 51°-56° | Wind: NW 10-15 and gusty
TOMORROW: Morning sunshine, afternoon clouds
Highs: 50°-54° | Wind: S 5-10
SUNDAY: Cloudy and cold with a 70% chance rain and snow but mostly snow
Highs: 36°-40° | Wind: NE 7-14
After this mornings dense fog, we are going to enjoy a beautiful day with plenty of sunshine and temperatures well into the 50s. Skies will remain mostly clear tonight. There will be more mild weather to enjoy tomorrow with sunshine in the morning followed by increasing afternoon cloudiness. Temperatures will once again top the 50 degree mark. If only that pattern would continue through Sunday.
Chances winter weather will return to the area on Sunday are increasing. I have been talking all week about the possibility of a wintry mix on Sunday, it now appears the precipitation may begin as mix of rain and snow but will likely change to all snow in many parts of the area. Our forecasting dilemma is best understood by stating the simple fact that the storm expected to bring wintry weather hasn't even formed yet. Forecasting the finer details of a storm that hasn't formed is not easy. Based on the latest computer models and their trends, I am increasingly confident we will see snow but not able to forecast accumulations yet. Snowfall of an inch or two is likely. Beyond that, I will wait until the storm forms. The entire Storm Watch 7 Team is involved and whether it turns out to be nothing, a nuisance or something more..we pledge to keep you up to date so there are no surprises.
