This Afternoon: Turning Partly Sunny, Cool

Highs: 44-48 | Wind: NNE 5-10 mph

Monday: Sunny & Milder

As wintry events go, this one has been quite easy to take.  Some light snow has fallen over the area, especially north and west of the city, but roads are mainly wet as temperatures have stayed above freezing.  All thee major airports recorded a trace of snow, Germantown tallied 1.5 inches, Frostburg had an inch, and La Vale in Allegany County topped the list with 2.5 inches.  Some drizzle, light rain, and snow showers linger this morning, but there are no watches or advisories. The day is expected to gradually improve as the morning wears on with some sunshine by the afternoon and highs in the upper 40s.  With the clearing skies, expect some radiational cooling in the overnight hours as temperatures tumble into the 20s.  With high pressure in place, both Monday and Tuesday should be mostly sunny and seasonably mild days with highs in the low 50s.  A disturbance at midweek could bring some rain or a wintry mix to the area.

Enjoy your Super Bowl Sunday!
