The same area of high pressure responsible for the chilly morning will also lead to a much warmer week.

Today: Mostly sunny and seasonable

Highs: 48°-53° | Wind: Becoming South 5-10 mph

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny and warmer

Highs: 60°-64° | Wind: South 10-15 mph

Thursday: Partly cloudy, breezy and warm.

Highs: 66°-71° | Wind: Southwest 10-15 mph

Yesterday's snow will start to melt  today and I would bet that even in Barboursville, Va., where 10 inches of snow fell yesterday, snow will be gone by the end of the week.

Much warmer temperatures will be developing for the balance of the work week. Southerly to southwesterly winds developing on the back side of a departing area of high pressure will push temperatures well above average.

A cold front will cross the region early Friday with just the chance of a few showers. Sunshine and slightly cooler temperatures will return for the weekend.

Speaking of the weekend, here's another reminder to turn the clocks ahead one hour before going to bed Saturday night, as we prepare for the return of Daylight Saving Time early Sunday morning. This is also a good weekend to change the batteries in smoke and CO detectors.
