Some light to moderate rain fell early Sunday morning, making today the 16th wet day this month. But since most of those days registered just a trace of moisture, our monthly tally is barely an inch, about 1/3 of our normal amount.
Today could contribute a few more drops to the bucket as scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible. Under mostly cloudy skies, high temperatures today will be rather cool with highs in the mid 60s.
Skies will begin clearing in the overnight hours as our weekend low pressure system moves east and a northerly flow arrives, heralding a big change in the weather. Tomorrow will be abundantly sunny and quite brisk with winds gusting to 30 mph; highs should be in the low to mid 60s.
But as more Canadian air filters in from the northwest, the mercury will plummet into the 30s on Monday night. As a consequence, there are freeze warnings out for the far western areas of Maryland and the Allegheny Highlands. Tuesday will likely be the chilliest day of the week with daytime highs only in the upper 50s; "chilliest" is rather remarkable since the projected high is in fact the seasonal average!
Temperatures will warm thereafter - as has been this March's wont - with highs in the mid 60s and low 70s for the latter part of the week. Enjoy the remainder of your weekend.
