A cloudy, cool and wet start to the weekend
This Afternoon: Increasing Clouds, Showers Possible
Highs: 57-61 | Rain: 40%
Tonight: Rain Likely, Cool
Lows: 38-45 | Rain: 70%
Sunday: Turning Mostly Sunny & Milder
Highs: 65-69 | Wind: N 5-10
The end of the weekend looks promising, but until then, cloudy skies and periods of rain will dampen the mood. Temperatures were chilly early this morning with readings in the mid 30s to lower 40s; Frost and Freeze Warnings are out for most areas north and west of DC until 9 a.m. Temperatures will moderate some through the day, but aren't expected to go much higher than 60, a full 10 degrees below the current seasonal average of 71. With a front straddling the area and low pressure moving our way, showers are possible from this afternoon through the overnight hours. The good news is that high pressure is expected to return on Sunday, bringing clear skies and milder temperatures — highs on Sunday could reach the upper 60s.
Yet another sunny but somewhat cooler day is likely on Monday, before warmer and more unsettled weather arrives on Tuesday. High temperatures in the low to upper 70s and mostly cloudy days through Friday will make it feel more like May — which starts already on Tuesday! Enjoy your weekend.
