After a very mild overnight, temperatures will quickly rise this morning and peak later today in the middle to upper 80s. Sunshine, heat and humidity will make it feel like an early summer day.

A weak and mainly dry cold front will approach the region late Monday night, eventually stalling across North Carolina Tuesday and Wednesday. Daytime highs will fall from the middle 70s to the upper 60s midweek. Looking ahead to the extended outlook, some models bring a risk for severe weather to the area by late Friday and into Saturday.
