As high pressure builds into the region, we'll get a taste of summer weather and quickly!

Today: Mostly sunny and mild.

Highs: near 65° | Wind: North 5-10 mph

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny and warmer

Highs: near 75° | Wind: SW 8-14 mph

Sunday: Mostly sunny and even warmer.

Highs: near 82° | Wind: Southwest 12-18 mph

If you have been wishing for a sunny and warm just enjoyed reading the forecast, I bet. High pressure will provide a beautiful spring weather day today and a taste of summer weather on Sunday and Monday. The winds are key to our forecast. As the center of high pressure moves south and east of our area, winds will slowly and steadily turn to the south, then southwest. This will pull in a much warmer air mass from the central and southern plains. The warmest day in the forecast period will be on Monday when high temperatures could reach the middle 80s.

We are almost 4 1/2 inches below average rainfall since the beginning of the year. We need rain! The next opportunity will be on Tuesday when a cold front approaches. Right now, we are forecasting a 40% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
