Easter Sunday dawned bright and beautiful with plenty of sunshine and temperatures not as cold as yesterday. And although a fire threat looms, the day's main features will be mostly sunny skies, highs near 70, and winds gusting to 25 mph. Just as happened on Saturday when the daytime high of 65 at Reagan National was reached late in the afternoon, today too will see increasingly more comfortable readings as the day goes on. The Red Flag Warning for fire risk, occasioned by the low humidity, projected high winds and dry tinder, is in effect from noon through 8 PM.
The passage of a cold front today will bring a few clouds to the region, but no precipitation is expected to mar the holiday. Partly cloudy skies tonight and the lack of radiational cooling should preclude any repeat of the freeze warnings of the past few nights.
Easter Monday should be a partly sunny, mild, and still windy day with the chance of showers later in the afternoon and evening. The signature weather events of the month, "April showers," have been largely absent this month, but a low pressure system at midweek offers a chance, albeit a slight one, of some much needed drops. Enjoy what should be an exceptional Easter!
