A cold front moving across the region will keep temperatures under control today. Yesterday felt like late July with a record-tying high temperature of 90 degrees at BWI Thurgood Marshall. Washington's official high temperature of 89 degrees at Reagan National Airport fell short of the record of 92 degrees set in 2002. Look for some increase in cloudiness later this afternoon and especially tonight. Tomorrow will be much cooler with a 30% chance of showers. The best chances will be south of Washington. Partly to mostly sunny and pleasant weather will return on Thursday and Friday.
Looking ahead to the weekend...We are calling for increasing cloudiness on Saturday with 40% of rain developing and mostly cloudy skies on Sunday with a 50% chance of rain. With the region almost 5 inches below average rainfall totals for 2012, we need the rain. Although, I agree the timing is not ideal.
