For the second stright morning, showers and thunderstorms rumbled across the area. And like yesterday, skies will be become partly sunny and temperatures will climb into the middle 80s. Unlike yesterday, showers and thunderstorms will likely develop this afternoon and a few may become severe. With an atmospheric boundary moving back and forth across the mid-Atlantic region, tomorrow's weather will be similar to todays'. By Friday, thunderstorm chances may drop just a bit but temperatures may rise a bit...putting the 90 degree mark in play. That reminds me...when do you think temperatures will hit 90 degrees at Reagan National for the first time this year? Send your guess to ABC790degreecontest@gmail.com
Computer models have some differences on when cooler and drier air will return to the area. The timing of that cold front will determine weekend weather condtions. At the moment, I think Saturday will still be in the 80s with pm thunderstorms possible, Then, the cooler, drier and more stable air will arrive on Sunday. But the timing is anything but certain at this point. Just another reason to check back here, 10, 20, 30 or 40 times a day.
email with your guess to ABC790degreecontest@gmail.com. Stay tuned and have a great afternoon!
