As high pressure builds into the area today, gusty northwesterly winds will bring much drier air into the region. We received some benficial rainfall during the past couple days and now, with high pressure taking over, we will enjoy several sunny days with a noticeable warming trend. High temperatures will approach 70 degrees this afternoon but with the gusty winds it will feel somewhat cooler if you are in a shaded area. The winds will diminish some tonight and temperatures may fall into the upper 30s in a few spots by morning but most areas will hold in the 40s. Tomorrow will be another sunny and breezy day but just a bit warmer during the afternoon.
The weekend continues to look pretty good. High pressure will be shifting eastward and this will force a change in the wind direction to a more southerly component and that in turn will draw warmer and slightly more humid air into the area. Highs will reach the upper 70s with mostly sunny skies on Saturday and partly sunny skies on Sunday...Mother's Day.
