I know the word “unsettled” is one of the most over-used words weather forecasters use…but what the heck, it applies perfectly to our outlook for the next few days. Low pressure at the surface and aloft and elongated areas of low pressure, called troughs, will be the cause of our unsettled weather. Plenty of moisture is being pushed into our area from the Atlantic Ocean. Areas of sunshine developing will cause localized instability and that will add to the thunderstorm potential. Late afternoon and evening will be the time periods during which any thunderstorm activity is most likely. Keep an umbrella handy through Thursday.
By Friday, the weather pattern will be changing as high pressure starts to build and strengthen across the Mid-Atlantic region. Right now, it looks as though we could transition into a very summery pattern for the Memorial Day Weekend. High temperatures will rise close to 80 degrees tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday. By Friday, we will be in the lower 80s. And it is quite possible temperatures will reach into the upper 80s at times over the 3 day weekend and rain chances look very low. Hope you like that kind of forecast.
