Clouds will increase during the overnight hours as a potent weather maker takes aim on the mid-Atlantic. Lows will fall into the upper 50s to middle 60s with showers becoming more widespread by early morning. Periods of heavier rain can be expected Monday afternoon and will continue thru Tuesday. Rain totals may exceed one and one-half inches, especially to the west of the D.C. metropolitan area. Depending on the rain intensity, the National Weather Service may issue flood advisories, watches and warnings. Skies will begin to clear late Tuesday as high pressure builds back into the area.
