The high pressure that brought our wonderful weekend with very comfortable dry air has moved off and a weak wave moving over us gave us the morning showers. Live Doppler still picking up some showers to the east. Over the next couple of days a broad "ridge" will build over us and very warm to hot air will come in and with southwest winds by Thursday the air will be the hottest and most humid we have seen yet. The good news is this is not setting up as an extended hot spell. By Friday a cool front will sweep through and lower the heat and humidity. With the increasing humidity there is the chance of afternoon thunderstorms especially to the west of DC, as is usual, in the Blue Ridge and mountains of West Virginia by Wednesday and Thursday afternoon. "Average" June tomorrow but really hot Wednesday and Thursday
