It's going to get hot. An excessive heat watch is issued for Friday for the region.

Overnight:  A Few Clouds, Comfortable

Lows: 60-68 | Wind: W 5

Thursday: Sunny and Hot becoming more Humid

Highs: Near 95 | Wind: W-SW 10

Friday: Sunny near Record Heat and Humid

Highs: 95-100 | Heat Index: 105-110

An Excessive Heat Watch is in effect Friday. Highs in the upper 90s and dew points in the 70s will make it feel like close to 110 degrees.

Some of the searing heat over the center of the country is heading our way.  Look at this neat animation of some of the records set across the U.S. in the last 24 hours  By Friday even with northwest to west winds the edge of searing heat will be in on us.  Check out our records and how close we will be to new records.  Keep an eye on the Heat Index on our featured map too.  There will be a weak weather front near us over the weekend and that may help trigger some afternoon thunderstorms and clouds which may help keep temperatures below record levels, but temperatures will still be a lot closer to 100 this weekend than the cool comfortable 66 we had this morning in Washington
