Mother Nature reveals her paternal side today as she is giving us a very pleasant Father's Day! With the same high pressure system in place that provided us a delightful week of warm, dry days, today is yet again partly to mostly sunny with low humidity and highs aiming for 80. Yesterday was nearly identical to the three previous days with a high of 82 at Reagan National, making it the 8th day this month of below average temperatures. Unlike last June when we'd already had readings of 98, 99, and 102, this month has had only three days in the low 90s and is, in fact 0.6 degrees below normal.
That relative cool streak is about the end as the high that has been our benefactor will slide offshore and the heat and humidity to our west will no longer be kept at bay. Look for clouds to increase tonight and tomorrow with a few showers possible. And while Monday will still be somewhat cool with readings in the upper 70s, heat will arrive with a vengeance by Wednesday with highs in the mid 90s. Combined with much higher dew points, the heat indices could approach 100 degrees. The hottest air of the season wil likely last through Friday before showers stifle the sizzle back into the 80s with lower humidity as well. Enjoy this Father's Day which unlike most of next week, will be no sweat!
