High pressure will move away from the mid-Atlantic overnight as a cold front moves in from the west. Showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop and some may contain gusty winds and periods of heavy rain. Temperatures are projected to fall into the middle 60s to low 70s.
The cold front will clear the region by early Monday afternoon ushering in a shot of cool and dry air. Although highs are expected in the middle 80s Monday, temperatures may struggle to make it out of the upper 70s on Tuesday.
Big changes are on the way by the end of the week with yet another surge of heat. Highs by Friday and Saturday will tickle the 100 degree mark along with dangerous heat indices and poor air quality.
