As high pressure continues to build across the area, the heat and humidity will build as well. It will become excessively hot and humid today and tomorrow.
Accordingly, a Heat Advisory goes into effect at noon today. High temperatures will climb to the mid to upper 90s today and perhaps close to 100 degrees tomorrow. However, it will feel even warmer because of the moisture content of the air.

Temperatures will stay very warm tonight with lows in the 70s outside the beltway to the lower 80s downtown. There could be an isolated thunderstorm tomorrow afternoon but chances are better we will see afternoon showers and thunderstorms on Friday as a cold front approaches the area.
The weekend will be partly sunny and very warm with highs in the upper 80s but it will be a bit less humid. This forecast is exactly what we would expect for a summer weekend. Summer, by the way, officially begins with the Summer Solstice at 7:09 pm this evening. Happy Summer!
We get 14 hours and 54 minutes tomorrow through Saturday – and this will be the most we get all year. Sunday our hours of daylight begin to decrease
