After a week of rather comfortable days with highs in the upper 80s and tolerable humidity, July is poised to revert to hotter, stickier conditions. Today started out with scattered showers and some heavy downpours as a warm front began pushing northward into the region. Look for mostly cloudy skies and increasing amounts of humidity with a good chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. Highs in the mid 80s are likely to be followed by readings in the lower 90s on Sunday and yet more instability. Heavy rain is possible both today and tomorrow.
The mercury will soar into the upper 90s on Tuesday and Wednesday before a cold front tries to give us a bit of relief toward week's end. Still, readings in the 90s are likely all week long, a testament to this being traditionally the hottest stretch of the year. The days may be getting shorter - by a minute or two each day - but there's still plenty of daylight left for the sun to keep broiling us for many weeks to come! Enjoy your weekend.
