A Heat Advisory is in effect from 11a.m. until 9 p.m. for areas east of the Blue Ridge. It will feel like 105°-109° at times...we call that apparent temperature,  the Heat Index.

Wednesday: Hot and humid with isolated afternoon thunderstorms

Highs: Upper 90s to 100° | Heat Index: 105°-109°

Tonight:  Scatterd showers and thunderstorms

Lows: 72°-78° | Wind: W 4-8 mph

Thursday: More clouds than sun with more showers and thunderstorms

Highs: Low 90s | Wind: NW 5-10

When it reached 100 degrees yesterday afternoon at Reagan National, it marked the 6th time this year the mercury reached or topped 100 degrees. The record for the most 100 degree days is 11 set in 1930. That record is SAFE. Hot and humid with temperatures near 100 today but it will feel several degrees warmer. Thunderstorms this afternoon will become likely tonight and tomorrow as a cold front slowly crosses the area. There is a risk for a few thunderstorms to become severe. Highs could reach the lower 90s tomorrow before cooler air arrives late tomorrow night and Friday. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible at times on Friday.

The weekend weather is looking pretty good. Skies will be partly cloudy and highs will remain in the 80s. There will be a slight chance for a Saturday shower or thunderstorms. Sunday is expected to remain dry.
