An area of high pressure north of our area will keep most of the area dry for most of the day. There is a slight chance of a few afternoon showers forming but those should remain along or west of the Blue Ridge. Southeasterly winds will steadily moisten the lower levels of the atmosphere making it feel muggy late tonight. Surface winds will become easterly tomorrow. That will drop high temperatures a bit but actually increase the chances for showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon as those winds interact with an upper level area of low pressure. More showers and thunderstorms are expected on Wednesday.
By Thursday and Friday, typical early August heat and humidity will set in with partly cloudy skies and highs in the lower 90s.
