****** A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is in effect until 8pm ******
A cold front is slowly approaching our area. Scattered showers and thunderstorms continue to develop ahead of the front in the very warm and humid air mass currently over the region. So far today, most of the storms have developed well west of Washington. However, with the frontal passage still several hours away, additional showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop and possibly move across parts of the metropolitan Washington area.
Slightly cooler and less humid air will arrive tomorrow. The front will move south of Richmond but probably not much farther south than that. On Thursday, the hot and humid air will push back overhead and temperatures may come close to 100 degrees, and climb to the middle 90s on Friday before a cold front arrives late Friday afternoon. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are possible on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. High temperatures this weekend will be close to the 90 degree mark.
