A few storms will be possible south of town but the majority of the D.C. area looks quiet tonight.
Tonight: Partly Cloudy, Warm and Muggy
Lows: 70s | Wind: SW 4-8 m.p.h.
Tuesday: Partly Sunny, Storms Possible
Highs: Low 90s | Wind: NW 10-15 m.p.h.
Wednesday: Mostly Sunny, Less Humid
Highs: Upper 80s | Wind: N 10 m.p.h.
The heat is on once again but cloud cover has limited the rise in temperatures this afternoon. The cloudiness and scattered shower and thunderstorm activity that is developing is due to an area of low pressure moving through the mid-Atlantic state.
Gusty winds will develop tomorrow as a cold front presses in on the region. The winds will cause a brief surge in temperatures, perhaps into the lower and middle 90s. As the front gets close to the area tomorrow afternoon, showers and possibly very heavy thunderstorms may develop. There will be periods of sunshine before the front arrives. We’ll get a break from the heat and humidity on Wednesday. But by Thursday and Friday, we will return to the 90s with daily chances of thunderstorms.
