August 1, 2012 - 12:06 PM
Text size Decrease Increase

August heat ahead but "Cooler" than July

This Afternoon: Becoming Sunny, Warm and Humid but also a few showers and t'showers

Highs: 85-90 | Rain: Showers cover less than 5% of the area

Tonight: Partly Cloudy, Warm and Humid

Lows: 68-73 | Wind: light

Thursday: Sunny, Hot and Humid

Highs: 90-95 | Heat Index: 95-100

Clouds beginingg to break so some of that August sun will be coming out.  A few showers on radar and some more, possible with some thunder likely to develop today as a weak weather front moves out way.  Check out this blog to remember what an almost historic July 2012 was.  As the week continues, we get into a typical August pattern with some heat (but not excessive) building and by late in the weekend a risk of some afternoon thunderstorms again.  Fear not August in DC has a bad reputation, but by the end of the month, the average high is 4º below where it is now
